Overview

This RACGP-accredited training is a comprehensive series, designed to increase cultural awareness and develop practical skills to enable health professionals to deliver culturally appropriate healthcare to their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. This training is an approved Cultural Awareness Training required for the Indigenous Health Incentive (PIP).

There are three mandatory components of this training course. Participants must commit to completing all three components to receive a statement of completion/accreditation.

  • Component 1 - Self-paced eLearning module (1 hour)
  • Component 2 - Self-paced eLearning module (2-3 hours)
  • Component 3 - Zoom workshop (this session) on Wednesday, 21 February 2024, 6:00pm - 9:00pm (eLearning module MUST be completed prior)

Eligibility Requirements

  • This course is for general practitioners working in private practice and their support and administrative staff.
  • Participants must work within the LGAs of either Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow or Penrith.
  • A maximum of two participants from the same organisation per program will be accepted. Any additional eligible registrations from the same organisation will be placed on a waitlist.

Presenter Details

Eliza Pross (BA, BSW, MPS), Ochre and Salt

Eliza is a Yuin/Nuenonne woman and Aboriginal Consultant engaged by Wentworth Healthcare. She has worked extensively with communities and service providers in the design and delivery of Aboriginal community, health, and mental health services in urban, rural, and remote settings.

Mitchell Beggs-Mowczan, Wentworth Healthcare

Mitchell is a Wiradjuri man who was born and raised on Darug land. Mitchell has worked in Aboriginal health for 11 years and is currently completing a Bachelor of Community Services.
