Overview

We know that those who work within healthcare have an important role to play in addressing domestic and family violence (DFV) in our community. Research says they are often the first point of contact for victim survivors due to physical injuries and mental health issues resulting from the violence.  

Wentworth Healthcare Limited, provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN) is offering Australian Medical Students Association (students) a unique opportunity to learn more about the prevalence of DFV: 

• Identify some of the signs
• Understand the health impacts
• Identify barriers to disclosing DFV and;
• Learn what referral pathways are available.
