Measles Matters

Overview

As measles cases continue to present in primary care, all members of the general practice team, need to be confident in managing potential exposures. This webinar will cover the key steps in recognising and isolating suspected measles cases, conducting contact tracing, and implementing appropriate precautions in line with Public Health Unit guidance to minimise the risk of transmission within the practice and community.

  • Describe the recommended isolation requirements for confirmed and suspected measles cases, including the infectious period.
  • Explain the principles and processes of measles contact tracing, including identification, classification, and management of exposed contacts.
  • Apply appropriate infection prevention and control precautions to minimise measles transmission in healthcare and community settings, including the use of vaccination, personal protective measures, and exposure management strategies
