Palliative Care Grand Rounds

Kingswood

Overview

Our Palliative Care Grand Rounds runs quarterly.  These events will provide GPs with enhanced skills and practical knowledge needed to manage the care of their palliative patients.

Topics covered in this session:

  • Pain management in palliative care – including when to cease regular medication and when to commence pain medication
  • When to refer to the Palliative Care Unit – who else can be involved
  • Supports available other than the Palliative Care Unit
  • Opioid calculator

Testimonial:

“It was a great night, very interactive and informative.  The presenters shared their experiences and knowledge.  Dr Oloffs showed us an opioid calculator app that can be downloaded which was very useful. We also discussed how patient referrals and communication with Nepean Hospital could be improved. Looking forward to the next session."– Dr Louise McDonnell, GP in Hazelbrook
