Introduction to Child Sexual Abuse training: Within the context of Primary Care

Overview

We know that child sexual abuse is alarmingly common in Australia. One in three girls and almost one in five boys experience sexual abuse before the age of 18.

Primary health care workers, practitioners, and providers work in an increasingly challenging and complex environment. They are central to contributing to improved short- and long-term health outcomes in communities across Australia for people with lived and living experience of child sexual abuse and/or adult sexual violence.

Join us online and learn about recognising the signs of child sexual abuse in a primary care setting, learn how to respond appropriately and know what referral pathways are. Our experienced GP educators and specialist sexual/child abuse linker will deliver a session that will equip you with the tools and resources to better identify patients impacted by Child Sexual Abuse and how to appropriately respond to disclosures and support services available.
