Introduction to Domestic and Family Violence training

LITHGOW

Overview

We are inviting all primary care staff from the Lithgow region to attend the Introduction to Domestic and Family Violence training. This is open to GP’s, nurses, practice managers and administrative staff.

Primary healthcare professionals have been identified as the first point of contact for many people impacted by domestic violence with some GPs seeing up to 5 women a week who either disclose abuse or have medical symptoms of abuse.  

The Care and Connect – domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) program support general practices in building capacity to recognise and respond to the signs of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) through free training. 

Learning outcomes 

  • Access information about the Care and Connect program
  • Recognise the signs of domestic & family violence
  • Identify barriers to disclosing domestic & family violence
  • Respond to those affected by domestic & family violence
  • Meet and learn about how a DFV Linker can support you and your patient with advice and information relating to DFV, including appropriate referral pathways available in the Lithgow region. 

Please note: this event is open to primary healthcare professionals who practice within the Lithgow region and numbers are limited to 20 people.

Supper will be provided.
